Should've known... Another no good, 1/2 assed attempt from Tippmann. They're still using old school tech. Improve efficiency my ass! Once you go to raise the marker up slighty, to reach out and touch someone, you're allowing the liquid C02 into the marker. There goes any efficency it might have had.

Reports also indicate that the 12 gram is punctured like on a PGP. Drop in the 12ie, screw the knob in and it doesn't open/isn't punctured until the first shot. So now you get FSDO with a mech. gun that's already questionable on it's efficency. Way to go Tippmann :dodgy:

I wouldn't even be mad about it if it weren't for how they let the hype and mystery build like this was going to be the greatest paintball pistol ever built and yet here it is, barely (and very questionably) competitive with the Tac8.

Wow small block didn't even think of it that way, but it is true, your raise it up your gun is goign to freez. Sigh, tippmann needed to do much better then this, with all the hype I think it turned alot of people off. Atleast I know I won't be getting this one.

Rather use a blow dart.....:(

Welp, I'm gonna have to go back on at least a LITTLE of my Tippmann-bashing.

Turns out, it DOES have a remote line option (although it comes right out the back of the mainbody, and i'd much rather be plugging into the grip).

It does take A5 barrels, and as I said, anything bigger than 7/8" OD probably won't fit. But this still gives a wider selection than the Tac8. Also- longer barrels (like 12") can be used, slide a mock suppressor over it, and you have improved accuracy and efficiency without looking too ridiculous. I'm kind of hoping stiffi releases one of those "Metal Free" barrels in a smaller size than 14" because standard stiffi's won't fit because of the large aluminum back portion (although we may see what my lathe has to say about that).

Mags are similar in size to double stack 1911 mags, meaning you can actually use 1911 mag pouches for them. Due to no CO2 in the mags, they are cheaper and lighter than Tac 8 mags.

The "engine" has supposedly been tweaked to get 22-24 shots per 12 gram without dropoff before gasout- not sure I really believe that, but its what Tippmann is saying.

Lighter and smaller than a T8

Probably easier to take apart (because of the clamshell) than the T8, but the sacrifice is those uuuuugly bolts everywhere.

However, price is now projected to be $215 as opposed to sub $200 proposed earlier. So a TPX now costs more than a brand new stock A5.

Admittedly, I am starting to come around and consider one of these again. I like the remote so that I never have to leave the field except to reload my one pod I carry while playing pistol. I like having a selection of barrels (and a metal free stiffi would make this uber-quiet), and I like smaller lighter mags (so I can carry more of them). But I still will wait until I get to handle one before really making a final decision.

I'm also still curious about the internals... Its pretty clear this is no inline blowback, and I don't think its a stacked-tube hidden in a shell either because the velocity adjuster is offset, and it looks too short... I'm thinking its some form of mechanical blow-forward like the tac 8 but I'm not positive.

Supposedly, release is in April, so I guess we'll see then.

Well the first 'unofficial' review is out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG-xTDmMo3E
Tippmann has released a statement that while this review was unauthorized and done on their testing model, they also agree that the reveiw was well done.

Overall, I'm all for the TPX. Primary, secondary, or tertiary I think the TPX is going to be the way to go!

And there are finally pics of one disassembled on PBN... http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3102061

And it appears that Tippmann has built a pneu-'Mag only with a sheridan valve instead of a 3-way... Its an interesting design to say the least, although I'm curious if there are any Automag or Tiberius patents that it may touch on infringing... I doubt AGD would do anything about it to this point as apparently whoever took over after Tom Kaye sold it off is content to simply sell off all the old stock without making anything new, but its similar-looking enough to Tiberius' engine that I wonder if we're due to see some legal-eagle-ing down the road...

Hector's paintball should have them in today or tomorrow, then I'll go get to touch it and see how I like it. If I do I'll be sending you another order John lol... Do you guys know when you're due to get yours and how many you'll be getting in stock?

Well, I just heard today that tippmann just started production of them. That came from tippmann, we should have them shortly! We have some preorders for them so they of course will be filled first, but we should should def have a few extras still maybe 4 or so after we fill the orders. Thats on our first shipment, not sure about the second shipment when that would get in.

Well, I got to check it out at the STC tent at Nam, and I'm almost embarassed to say I might be sold on it... Its quite a bit lighter than the T8, much slimmer, and a bit shorter (at least with a UMS compensator on the T8). The trigger's length of pull is much shorter and more comfortable, and the grip is obviously much smaller, not that I had any problems with that since I have gorilla hands... But the big winning point to me is the MUCH lighter weight of the mags.... You could probably put SIX fully loaded TPX mags on a scale and it might very well be less than ONE T8 mag. I still wish they would have made them 10-rounders, and hope they'll consider a 10-12 round extended mag in the future. With the apparent popularity on the initial run, perhaps they just might... Fit and finish of the clamshell halves isn't perfect, but its much much better than on some of the prototype and demo-models that we've seen pics of thus far. Barrel on the one I handled was very easily removeable despite the limited amount of it available to grip, but the shroud definitely fits very close to the barrel so anything with a larger OD than the stock one (didn't have a caliper handy but I'd say its about 7/8"), isn't going to fit without modification. Remote line option just adds to the win factor, although I'm still not a fan of its location at the back of the "slide area". I would have much rather seen it piped through the grip behind the mag.

My only real concern with it at this point is how well it shoots (still haven't gotten to test fire one), and how well the polymer clamshells will hold up to abuse over time.

Now the only problem is paying for it after having to buy a crap-ton of new camping gear for Nam lol... Guess I'll be doing some extended shifts this week :)
