So Gilligan's Disciples got involved with Wal-Mart in setting up a scenario game as a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network. Wal-Mart told us, "We're pretty much putting you in control of things." Plus, OpsGear has expressed interest in sponsoring the event.

Which has me kinda scared. First, we've never planned out a scenario before. Plus, the only field at which this event could take place within practicality is a field where we've had bad experiences with the refs.

So I'm reaching out to get thoughts, ideas, and feedback from the rest of you UO Forum, if you're in a sharing mood.

Some things to keep in mind:

1: We're trying to avoid anything that may suggest "violence" (military themes, medics, etc.)
2: We want the event to be interesting for hardcore players, but not so much it scares off new players.
3: We're shooting for a humorous "Management vs. Associates" theme.

Anything anyone has to say on the matter would be welcome. Let us have it!

Lol an "Office Space" themed scenario?

If you have a problem with the reffing at that field, there's always the option to taking your own team and using them as refs as well, or finding people to volunteer to provide supplemental reffing.

If you guys weren't so darn far away, I'm sure myself and plenty of my guys would be jumping right in to help out, so other locals in your area are probably willing too. Put the word out on the local forums on boards like PBN and SpecOps that you're looking for some help.

Hey Man,
Sounds great! Hope we can help out with these events! I would say lets do it at OTP, but seeing your so far away that sucks. But ya as Rogue said, use your own team to ref.

OpsGear....Boooo :? 8-P

Thanks for the input, guys. If you have any more thoughts whatsoever, PLEASE share them. We're very open to them.

And yeah, it is disappointing everybody on the forum is so far away. Either we should be back East or you should be in the Midwest -- somebody's in the wrong place.

We were at a game in February that was that world of warcraft based theme--I have no idea what half of all that stuff was but might be a start for themes. As well Camp Blanding in Florida is hosting a game based on the Revenge of the Nerds movie, maybe this can help you--maybe try a Animal House theme or something--just a thought. Good Luck With the event.

It's not just the theme of the scenario you have to worry about, you gotta try to create missions for both the noobs and the experienced players. I like the Office Space themed scenario, cause you could have a mission where people would try and recover Milton's red stapler, lol.
How many people are you expecting to attend?
